MAKES SENSE
GRADUATION PROJECT
"Makes Sense" is about combining two different aspects that are important in my life: cooking and fashion.
The work revolves around stimulating the viewer's senses and illustrate that it is possible to combine two different passions. These sensations communicate through both food and fashion. The two appeal to different stimuli, creating an unexpected, aesthetic, multi-sensory experience.
During graduating, I indulged myself into specific ingredients while experimenting in my kitchen. Doing this, six recipes emerged, serving as the bridge to the next step: designing.
In the transition from recipes to designs, I researched for instance the intense color or interesting structure of an ingredient. I attempted to mimic these characteristics in textiles, shapes and colors. It fascinated me how many directions I could explore with what many others perceive as something you merely consume.
For me, it has become clear that the way I cook is also the way I design and distinguish myself as a creator.
